1.  Clay Hill Area

#1. These flowers came from separate scapes arising from the same corm. The left flower has no staminodes and medium filaments. The right flower has erect, short staminodes and medium-long filaments. This is the type specimen for Brodiaea santarosae collected on the Santa Rosa Plateau 15 June 2006:

Type: USA, California, Riverside County, Santa Ana Mountains, Santa Rosa Plateau region: Clay Hill, 0.55 km south-southwest of the northernmost high point of the Mesa de Burro; 33.52927 degrees North, 117.24857 degrees West [NAD27]; 580 m elevation; 15 June 2006, T Chester, W. Armstrong K. Madore 927 (holotype UCR; isotypes RSA, SD).

B. orcuttii x B. filifolia hybrid in San Marcos has similar but smaller flowers with shorter filaments and staminodes.

6.  Images Inconsistent With Intergradation Between B. filifolia and B. orcuttii
[B. santarosae perianth is up to 10 mm longer than B. filifolia X B. orcuttii hybrid in San Marcos.]

The following six images show flowers that do not resemble intermediate forms between Brodiaea filifolia and B. orcuttii.  The
perianths are up to 10 mm longer than either species, and larger than the B. filifolia x B. orcuttii hybrid in San Marcos. Although
they have long filaments like B. orcuttii, they also have long staminodes unlike B. filifolia or B. orcuttii.
